On Thursday, the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies faced the Dakota Valley Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Elk Point-Jefferson came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 60-53. Winning may never get old, but Elk Point-Jefferson sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Despite the defeat, Dakota Valley saw an underclassman step up: Ella Otten scored 21 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameryn Sommervold, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Elk Point-Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Dakota Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Elk Point-Jefferson will take on the Tigers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Groton will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Dakota Valley, they will take on the Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
