The Jenkins County War Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Montgomery County 55-19 on the road. The result was nothing new for Jenkins County, who have now won seven games by 25 points or more so far this season.
Montgomery County's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Marquis Martin, who picked up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown. Martin's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards.
Jenkins County's win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Montgomery County and 2-6 Claxton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31% over those games). As for Montgomery County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Emanuel County Institute the next time they take the field. Jenkins County will host Emanuel County Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Montgomery County will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
