The Griffith Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Highland Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Highland took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Griffith, who comes in off a win.
Griffith scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 75-65 win over Hammond Morton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Savon Miles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Gianni Feaster was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Highland's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. The contest between them and Hanover Central wasn't particularly close, with Highland falling 51-37. Highland has not had much luck with Hanover Central recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Walter Glover jr, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristijan Zekavica, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Griffith has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Highland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Griffith have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Griffith was able to grind out a solid win over Highland in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 39-29. Will Griffith repeat their success, or does Highland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
