Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Morton Potters, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 21-14 to Providence Catholic on Saturday. Morton has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Despite the loss, Morton still got an impressive performance from Christopher Schaff, who picked up 64 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The critical scores for Providence Catholic came from Kaden Nickel and Xavier Coleman.
Morton's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Providence Catholic, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.
Morton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Providence Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Hillcrest at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hillcrest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Providence Catholic is ranked 33rd).
