The Moanalua Menehune will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Leilehua Mighty Mules at 6:45 p.m. on November 30th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Sunday, Moanalua didn't have too much trouble with Hanalani on the road as they won 72-57.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moanalua to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Pommerenk, who scored 19 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pommerenk has scored at least 25% of Moanalua's points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Kimbrough, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Leilehua faced Mid-Pacific Institute in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Leilehua strolled past Mid-Pacific Institute with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 62-47.
The losses dropped Moanalua to 1-2 and Hanalani to 2-2.
Everything went Moanalua's way against Leilehua in their previous meeting back in November of 2018 as Moanalua made off with a 75-51 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moanalua since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
