Plymouth and Hanover are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Bobcats will head out to take on the Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Plymouth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Plymouth came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-2 to Stark. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Generals recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Thomas Daigneault was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Hanover waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 9-0 win. Considering the Bears have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Jack Lobb made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allie Muirhead, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Daigle, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Hanover hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.
Plymouth's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Hanover, their record is now 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Plymouth has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hanover struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Plymouth came up short against Hanover in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
