The Boerne Greyhounds waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They came out on top against Davenport by a score of 60-48. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Boerne also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Boerne was led to victory by Casen Hoegemeyer and Hank Hendrix. Hoegemeyer scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Hendrix scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Hoegemeyer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Sam Holland was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Despite the loss, Davenport still got an impressive performance from Brandon Castilla, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Castilla is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cameron Gaston, who scored ten points.
Boerne's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Davenport, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-7.
Boerne will be playing at home against Bandera at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bandera will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 706th, while Boerne is ranked 270th). As for Davenport, they will head out on the road to square off against Wimberley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Wimberley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
