Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Colleyville Heritage walked away with it. They took their game on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-21 win over the Cougars. With Colleyville Heritage ahead 35-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Colleyville Heritage's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Braden Blueitt, who picked up 146 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Luke Ullrich, who threw for 286 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Argyle entered their tilt with Wylie with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Argyle blew past Wylie 49-14 on the road. Given Argyle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Wylie is ranked 249th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Argyle found their leader in underclassman Maguire Gasperson, who threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes. Will Krzysiak was another key contributor, picking up 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Argyle's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. In that department, Hudson Emeterio was the leader with two sacks.
Their wins bumped Colleyville Heritage to 11-1 and Cooper to 5-7.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Colleyville Heritage and Argyle have no problem gaining yardage. Colleyville Heritage has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 400.5 total yards per game. However, it's not like Argyle struggles in that department as they've been even better at 416.8 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
