The Cowan Blackhawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Frankton Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cowan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Cowan took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Wapahani, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blackhawks skirted past the Raiders 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blackhawks.
Thomas Brooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Cowan's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brysen Huggins, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Frankton came up short against Eastbrook on Thursday and fell 12-7.
Caine Oakley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Frankton is 2-1 when Oakley posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cal Osborne, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Cowan's record now sits at 10-3. As for Frankton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Cowan's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's matchup. The Blackhawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Frankton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cowan continue to outrun the ball?
Cowan might still be hurting after the 16-6 loss they got from Frankton in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Blackhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
