The Eastmont Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Moses Lake Mavericks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
11 must be Eastmont's lucky number: they beat Eisenhower with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Cadets 11-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won five contests in a row.
Brittany Howe made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Howe was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ellie Holben was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Halle Radach, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.
Eastmont lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eisenhower didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, Moses Lake had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Huskies as they made off with a 10-2 win.
Like Eastmont, Moses Lake also got a great game from a two-way player: Paige Richardson. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Richardson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Morris, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Lila Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Eastmont pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Moses Lake, their record now sits at 12-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Eastmont hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Moses Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Eastmont took their victory against Moses Lake in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
