They will take on the North Duplin Rebels in a holiday battle at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Monday, Wayne Preparatory Academy ended up a good deal behind Wayne Country Day and lost 82-63. Wayne Preparatory Academy has not had much luck with Wayne Country Day recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Isaiah Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. He scored a full 28.6% of Wayne Preparatory Academy's points, the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zachary Golden, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday North Duplin sidestepped Jones for a 64-61 victory.
North Duplin relied on the efforts of Dujuan Armwood, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds, and Micah Lesesane, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Armwood pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Wayne Preparatory Academy now has a losing record at 6-7. As for North Duplin, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.
