CLEARWATER, Fla. - the Eagles scored 31 points in the second quarter to secure a big 61-16 victory over Clearwater (Fla.) on Saturday.
East Lake scored on a touchdown run by
Drew Couto, a
Jake Hudson touchdown pass to
Artavis Scott, a defensive touchdown and a touchdown pass by Hudson to
George Campbell in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a
Weston Fordham touchdown run in the first quarter, EL led 54-3 at the half.
A 23-point first quarter set the table for the Tarpon Springs school, who coasted the rest of the way for the victory.
Fordham was the top performer for the Eagles. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
A 40-15 East Lake victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Tornadoes. The win brought East Lake's winning streak to four games.
Clearwater (0-4) goes up against Gibbs in a non-conference game matchup next week, while East Lake (4-0) locks horns with Tarpon Springs also in a non-conference game.
