Pioneer recap November 13, 2013
Pottsgrove extended the longest winning streak in Pioneer this week by beating Phoenixville, 49-7. The victory was the 11th in a row for the team.
Boyertown scaled the state rankings by moving to 179 from 221 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of besting Northampton 50-28.
Spring-Ford's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Daywalt threw for 136 and 1 touchdown and Gary Hopkins had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Jarred Jones chipped in 231 yards. Cody Davis helped Spring-Ford's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 51 yards.
Jones provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Rams topped Downingtown West. Jones' favorite target this week was Hopkins, who caught 3 passes for 70 yards.
Jones was a beast in the backfield as Spring-Ford bested the Whippets.
Jones was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 231 yards as Chad Brubaker's team defeated Downingtown West. Jake Leahy also contributed to the rushing game with 76 yards on the ground.
Spring-Ford's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rams feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brandon Leacraft has thrown for 751 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Hopkins has 24 catches for 510 yards.
Pottsgrove was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Phantoms. Rick Pennypacker's team came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
