McEwen hasn't had much luck against Camden Central recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will welcome the Lions at 6:00 p.m.
McEwen is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central.
Kainan Gill was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cane Burdette, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Camden Central entered their tilt with Calloway County on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Lakers.
Maddox Trull made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Trull was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Gage Weatherly looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Camden Central: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Johnson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Camden Central's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for McEwen, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
McEwen might still be hurting after the 19-2 defeat they got from Camden Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
