Carver High School of Engineering & Science had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 63-50 win over Central. Given Carver High School of Engineering & Science's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Central is ranked 574th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samir Roberts-mouzon led the charge by scoring nine points along with three steals. Roberts-mouzon has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Anthony Brown was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Central saw an underclassman step up: Yamir Knight-Parker scored 16 points. Knight-Parker is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Central, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science will be playing at home against Vaux Big Picture at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against George Washington at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. George Washington is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
