The Aztec Tigers lost against the Window Rock Fighting Scouts back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Aztec took a hard 42-24 fall against Window Rock. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Aztec has scored all season.
Nika Mckenzie and Bailey Clarence certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Mckenzie scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Clarence scored three points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Mckenzie has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Aztec struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Aztec's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6. As for Window Rock, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aztec will take on Piedra Vista at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Piedra Vista will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Window Rock, they will head out on the road to square off against Monument Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Monument Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Window Rock is ranked seventh).
