South Bend Adams extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 14-4 to the Saints when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Angela McNellis put in work while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. McNellis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
McNellis wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Kidwell, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. Kylie Ross also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they moved to 9-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 6, 2024.
On Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger's side, Izzy Tudor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Olivia Davis was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Nees, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, South Bend Adams will head out on the road to square off against South Bend Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Wayne Northrop at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
