The Putnam County Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 64-55 to Lowpoint-Washburn. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Baylor Steffen was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with eight steals for Lowpoint-Washburn. That makes it three consecutive games in which Steffen has scored at least 25% of Lowpoint-Washburn's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendin Melton, who scored ten points.
Putnam County's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-8. As for Lowpoint-Washburn, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Putnam County will head out on the road to face off against Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lowpoint-Washburn will be home for the holidays to greet Leland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Leland is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
