Falfurrias is 2-8 against Santa Gertrudis Academy since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys will head out on the road to square off against the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. Falfurrias will be strutting in after a victory while Santa Gertrudis Academy will be coming in after a loss.
Falfurrias can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Banquete 77-50 on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Falfurrias had established a 26 point advantage.
Falfurrias relied on the efforts of Marcos Gonzalez, who scored 14 points along with six assists and three steals, and Quisto Sanchez, who scored 21 points along with two blocks. Gonzalez hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Nate Perez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Santa Gertrudis Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (66-53), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Falfurrias' victory bumped their record up to 26-5. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.
Falfurrias beat Santa Gertrudis Academy 68-60 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Falfurrias since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
