L.C. Bird stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Clover Hill at home to the tune of 78-42. L.C. Bird's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
L.C. Bird relied on the efforts of Aliyah Elliott, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Trinity Dale, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Elliott scored 15 or more points. Kaleah Walker was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists.
L.C. Bird's lineup was just a bit different on Tuesday as Walker got a bit more time on the court (22 vs. her season average of 11.56). Walker made the most of the opportunity, scoring six points along with six assists. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, Huguenot's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Henrico by a score of 2-0. While losing is never fun, Huguenot can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Henrico is ranked 55th).
The victory makes it two in a row for L.C. Bird and bumps their season record up to 15-5. As for Huguenot, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-17.
Everything came up roses for L.C. Bird against Huguenot in their previous matchup last Monday as the squad secured a 69-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for L.C. Bird since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
