Fort Collins is 0-3 against Fairview since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Lambkins will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fort Collins is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Horizon: they outscored them in every quarter. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Fort Collins had a senior duo take command as Jack McKeon rushed for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries and Justin Cranford threw for 235 yards and two TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes. Diego Romero was in the mix as well, providing the Lambkins with one score.
Fort Collins' run defense was locked in: Horizon could only muster -0.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Ben Stenger for the heroic effort on defense: he. Fort Collins didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.
Fort Collins didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kaden Souders and Jaden Smith. Fort Collins received some extra help from Romero, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Fairview never let their opponents score on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Prairie View 56-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Knights, who have now won four games in a row.
Fort Collins better keep an eye on Ki Ellison. He was instrumental in Fairview's win, throwing for 140 yards and three TDs on only nine passes. Joby Saad was another key player, rushing for 57 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.
One reason for the win was Fairview's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
Fort Collins' win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Fairview, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Fort Collins has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.3 rushing yards per game.
