Softball Recap: Boyd Beats Paradise for Their Ninth Straight Win

Boyd had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Paradise Panthers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Yellowjackets also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Abby Atkinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Boyd saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Salas, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Boyd hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paradise struck out ten times.

Boyd's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Paradise, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boyd will square off against Pilot Point at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pilot Point has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something Boyd will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Paradise, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Paradise Panthers face off against Callisburg Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. They are facing Callisburg at the right time seeing as Callisburg is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
