Columbus East was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Bedford North Lawrence. The Olympians came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Floyd Central was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in Hoosier Hills. The Highlanders beat the Highlanders 28-27 earlier in the week.
Jeffersonville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Fridley threw for 206 and four touchdowns and Dionte Allen had 77 yards receiving. On the ground Austin Hines chipped in 71 yards. Dalton Adkins helped Jeffersonville's passing attack out by catching one ball for 45 yards.
Jeffersonville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Red Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Fridley has thrown for 2243 yards and 31 touchdowns this season, while Ricky Embry has 34 catches for 673 yards. Hines leads the league in rushing with 949 yards.
The Red Devils' Hines needs only 51 yards against New Albany next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Jeffersonville takes on the Bulldogs. As it stands, Lonnie Oldham's team is in second, while New Albany is in third.
Seymour moved up to 155 from 182 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Hoosier Hills. The Owls climbed the ranks as a result of besting Madison 35-12.
