Basketball Recap: Box Elder Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Mayson Jeppsen and Carter Buchanon

Box Elder was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. The matchup between them and the Mountain Crest Mustangs didn't end well, with the Box Elder Bees falling 68-53. The Bees were probably out for revenge after losing 52-47 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Box Elder had strong showings from Carter Buchanon, who posted 18 points, and Mayson Jeppsen, who went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds. Those 18 points gave Buchanon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckay Deem, who put up eight points.

Parker Andrus was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards for Mountain Crest. Another player making a difference was Trey Cooper, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Box Elder's record is now 0-8. As for Mountain Crest, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-5.

Box Elder will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Field at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. As for Mountain Crest, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 35-34 win against Logan on the 18th.
