The Green Hope Falcons were the 55-51 winner over the Leesville Road Pride when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Green Hope took a 57-42 bruising from Leesville Road on Friday. While losing is never fun, Green Hope can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Leesville Road is ranked 74th).
Despite the loss, Green Hope had strong showings from Abigail Brown, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Swar Dave, who scored 12 points. Brown is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Lee, who scored eight points.
Leesville Road found their leader in underclassman Finley Lewis, who scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Kaiel Lawless was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Green Hope's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Leesville Road, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Green Hope will take on Middle Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Middle Creek is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Leesville Road, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
