Fans got a thrill when Collin Pettell and Christopher Howard connected against Oglethorpe County. The longest such play in AA Region 8 this season, the connection resulted in 65 yards.
Washington-Wilkes added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Union County, 41-10. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Tigers.
Wes Holcombe threw for 193 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 11-16 with 0 interception.
Dan Dailey was the best running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 115 yards as Rabun County topped the Patriots. Teammate Hunter Sims added to the ground attack by rushing for 68 yards.
Rabun County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Holcombe has thrown for 798 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Alden Wright has 20 catches for 293 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Wildcats' Wright goes up against the Eagles' Howard.
One of AA Region 8's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Rabun County and Riverside Military Academy face off next week.
Next week's game between Lee Shaw's team and Gary Downs' team will feature an aerial matchup as Holcombe tests his arm against Howard's defensive ability.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Jefferson takes on Washington-Wilkes. The Dragons are in third place, while the Tigers are in first place.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Wildcats and the Eagles face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Rabun County comes in having scored 203 this season, while Riverside Military Academy has scored 91. The Wildcats scored 64 points last week as they bested Social Circle.
Rabun County scaled the state rankings by moving to 151 from 180 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wildcats climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Redskins 64-0.
