Bladensburg won the last time they faced Friendly and things went their way on Friday too. The Bladensburg Mustangs walked away with a 63-55 victory over the Friendly Patriots. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Bladensburg was led to victory by Tyler Holt and Michael Mason. Holt posted 18 points in addition to seven assists and three steals, while Mason went 6 for 8 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Johnson, who put up nine points.
Despite the loss, Friendly saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Khadir Johnson dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in rebounds. Cameron Freeman was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.
Bladensburg's win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Bladensburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-40 victory against Crossland on the 9th. As for Friendly, they will host International High School at Largo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Friendly will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
