Franklin has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the King/Drew Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Franklin walked away with it. Everything went their way against Manual Arts on Friday as Franklin made off with a 41-16 victory. The result was nothing new for Franklin, who have now won seven contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Benjamin Villareal continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Eduardo Cuevas was another key contributor, throwing for 140 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, King/Drew beat Hamilton 36-30 on Friday.
Keenan Jackson looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 90 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 180 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was DeWayne Byrdsong, who gained 93 total yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was King/Drew's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Preston Banks and Chinedu Onyeagoro who racked up four sacks between them.
Franklin has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 8-2-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.8 points per game. As for King/Drew, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season.
