The Fisher Bunnies will head out on the road to square off against the Lexington Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Last Saturday, Fisher lost to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on the road by a decisive 43-27 margin. While losing is never fun, Fisher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley is ranked 153rd).
Fisher's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jenna Clemmons, who scored four points along with eight rebounds, and Melina Luyando who scored five points along with three steals.
Lexington suffered their biggest loss since November 16, 2023 on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 65-44 defeat at the hands of Fieldcrest. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lexington in their matchups with Fieldcrest: they've now lost eight in a row.
Fisher now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Lexington, they bumped their record down to 9-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Fisher came out on top in a nail-biter against Lexington in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, sneaking past 49-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fisher since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
