The Escalante Moquis were the 47-39 winner over the Milford Tigers when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Escalante was the victim of a rough 50-25 loss at the hands of the Tigers on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Escalante has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Escalante lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mazee Dunton. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Milford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tayleah Spaulding, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Miley Willden was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Escalante's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Milford, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.
Escalante does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Milford will head out on the road to take on the Buffalos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Valley is ranked 77th, while the Tigers are ranked 81st).
