This season hasn't been kind to The Wilson Area Warriors, who are still winless after their tenth game. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame-Green Pond on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Wilson Area can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 490th, while Notre Dame-Green Pond is ranked 120th).
Jeramy Cressman threw for 64 yards on nine of 21 attempts.
It was another big night for Danny Darno, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Ludlow, who gained 98 total yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Wilson Area to a paltry 100 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Notre Dame-Green Pond's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Brett Bruckman and John paul Pierce who racked up four sacks between them.
Wilson Area's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.6 points per game. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Wilson Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Notre Dame-Green Pond will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Saucon Valley at 7:00 p.m. Saucon Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
