On Thursday, the Riverside Warriors faced the James F. Byrnes Rebels in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Riverside managed a 67-63 win over James F. Byrnes. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Madison Garrido continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 13 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 steals. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Powell, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Riverside and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for James F. Byrnes, they bumped their record down to 4-2 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Riverside won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mauldin at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Mauldin is ranked second, while Riverside is ranked eighth). As for James F. Byrnes, they will head out on the road to face off against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
