Archbishop Carroll has gone a perfect 7-0 against Bishop Ireton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 12:00 p.m. Archbishop Carroll will be strutting in after a win while Bishop Ireton will be coming in after a defeat.

Archbishop Carroll is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 57-18 victory over Riverdale Baptist. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lions' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fourth in District of Columbia, while the Crusaders are ranked 43rd in Maryland).

Archbishop Carroll got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tk Davis out in front who rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Davis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Avery Glass was another key signal caller, throwing for 216 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Archbishop Carroll, adding 18 points to the final score. All came from Victor Adeyemi: he went 6-for-6 kicking field goals for 18 points.

Archbishop Carroll's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as six different players picked up one apiece. They received some extra help from Darnell Williams, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Bishop Ireton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-28 heartbreaker at the hands of Bishop O'Connell. The Cardinals were right on the edge of victory: they outscored the Knights in the fourth quarter 14-6.

Bishop Ireton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Archbishop Carroll, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Archbishop Carroll beat Bishop Ireton 27-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
