WIMBERLEY, Texas -
Wimberley (Texas) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Reed Jones ran for a touchdown with under a minute left, bringing the team to victory over
Boerne (Texas) 37-34.
After trailing 24-14 at the half, the Greyhounds went ahead on a field goal by
Taylor Knopf with under a minute left in the fourth.
Wimberley's most effective player was
Kolby Kelley. He ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 14 touchdowns on the season.
Paul Burns played well for Boerne. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
WHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 49-10.
The defeat comes as a step back for Boerne, which notched a 43-16 victory over Canyon Lake in its previous outing. The loss snapped BHS's 3-game winning streak.
