The Wakefield Bombers will head out on the road to take on the Herington Railroaders at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wakefield comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-7, which was the final score in Wakefield's tilt against Rural Vista [Hope/White City] on Tuesday. Wakefield was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-3.
Meanwhile, Herington strolled past Centre with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 62-47. The win was just what Herington needed coming off of a 78-28 defeat in their prior match.
Herington's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tyus Becker, who scored 13 points along with seven steals, and Mason Mortensen, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sumner Schlesener, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Wakefield dropped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.1 points per game. As for Herington, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Wakefield was dealt a bruising 47-15 loss at the hands of Herington when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Wakefield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
