Yantis is 2-8 against Sulphur Bluff since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yantis Owls will head out on the road to square off against the Sulphur Bluff Bears at 8:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Yantis waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Union Hill by a score of 57-50.
Yantis can attribute much of their success to Brant Harville, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harville has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Lopez, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Sulphur Bluff can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They breezed by Bloomburg on the road to the tune of 73-25. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Sulphur Bluff has posted against Bloomburg since January 15, 2021.
It was another big night for Matthew Overly, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and six steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. Clint Degen was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Yantis' win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Sulphur Bluff, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.
Yantis couldn't quite finish off Sulphur Bluff when the teams last played on January 2nd and fell 49-46. Can Yantis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
