St. Johns hasn't had much luck against Mogollon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Redskins will square off against the Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. St. Johns will be strutting in after a win while Mogollon will be coming in after a loss.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between St. Johns and Northland Prep Academy, and St. Johns kept the tradition alive. The Redskins put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 15-1 victory on Monday. Considering the Redskins have won seven contests by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Everett McFee and Ethan Skousen made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, McFee pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Skousen tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, McFee went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Skousen went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Skousen is becoming a predictor of St. Johns' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-11-1 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on T Platt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of McKray Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
St. Johns always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Hayden hit Mogollon with a six-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs lost 13-5 to the Lobos. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Yoyo Suarez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
St. Johns is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mogollon, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Johns hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Mogollon struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Johns suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Mogollon when the teams last played back in March. Can the Redskins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
