Preston Beckham was his usual excellent self, rushing for 156 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Sammy Zelaya, who rushed for 77 yards and one TD.
Bloomingdale's run defense was locked in: Robinson could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Messiah Rushing for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bloomingdale is 2-1 when they shut down the run game so well.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Riverview and East Bay, and Riverview kept the tradition alive. The Sharks were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over the Indians on Friday. The matchup marked the Sharks' most dominant win of the season.
One reason for the win was Riverview's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Maximus Regula was the leader with two. Riverview got some further help from Jeremery Bass: he made nine total tackles and snagged an interception, both of which were returned for scores.
Riverview's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Bloomingdale, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Bloomingdale has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 202.9 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Riverview, though, as they've been averaging only 92.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Bloomingdale and Riverview were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but Bloomingdale suffered an agonizing 22-21 loss.
