Softball Recap: Tuslaw Wins Going Away Against Orrville

Tuslaw won the last time they faced Orrville and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Red Riders. Considering the Mustangs have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabel McCune made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kailey Valentine was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kaydence Chapman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Tuslaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Tuslaw and bumps their season record up to 12-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Orrville, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.

Tuslaw has already played their next game, an 8-2 victory against Northwest on the 2nd. Orrville has also already played their next match (against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
