Baseball Recap: Mount Ayr Drops Season-High Score on Central Decatur

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Ayr). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Central Decatur Cardinals a 26-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Mount Ayr has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central Decatur, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Looking ahead, Mount Ayr will head out to challenge Bedford at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Central Decatur, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Murray at 5:00 p.m. The Cardinals are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
