The Southern Rams can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 61-49 win over Northern. The win was just what Southern needed coming off of a 75-46 defeat in their prior game.
Southern's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joel Campbell led the charge by scoring 16 points along with three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Campbell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jared Haskiell, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Southern now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Northern, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Parkside at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Parkside presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southern in their respective states (Parkside is ranked 16th in District of Columbia, while Southern is ranked 159th in Maryland). As for Northern, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hancock at 7:00 p.m.
