Basketball Recap: Will Sangster's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fullington Academy over Southland Academy

After flying high against John Hancock Academy last Friday, Fullington Academy came back down to earth. The Fullington Academy Trojans took a 70-55 bruising from the Southland Academy Raiders on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 52-35 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2018.

Fullington Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Will Sangster, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Sangster's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Cutter Tharpe was another key player, going 6 for 14 on his way to 22 points.

Fullington Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Southland Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fullington Academy will take on Windsor Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fullington Academy is facing Windsor Academy at the right time seeing as Windsor Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Southland Academy, they will head out to take on Stratford Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stratford Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season.
