AA District 12 recap Nov. 7, 2012
East Hickman County moved up to 148 from 211 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AA District 12. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of topping South Gibson 18-14.
Giles County extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lipscomb Academy, 48-7. The win marks 11th in a row for the the Bobcats.
Giles County's dynamic duo of Al Cobb and Kenton Baker proved tough for the Mustangs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cobb threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns and Baker had 144 yards receiving. Lucas Harrison helped Giles County's passing attack out by catching two balls for 63 yards.
Cody Bennett was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 130 yards as Lewis County defeated Lipscomb Academy. Ryan Bell also contributed to the rushing game with 121 yards on the ground.
The Bobcats' Cobb and Baker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AA District 12 in both passing and receiving yards. Cobb has thrown for 2303 yards this season, while Baker, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 64 catches for 1167 yards. Bell from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 1094 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when East Hickman County takes on Hickman County. As it stands, the Eagles are in seventh, while the Bulldogs are in third.
Giles County took down Glenn McCadams' team 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cobb ran for 91 yards in the win.
