The East Central Hornets waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 54-50 W over Judson. For East Central, this counts as revenge for the 76-71 loss Judson walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Zahir Williams was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Mackey, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
East Central's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.2 points per game. As for Judson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-9.
East Central will head out on the road to square off against New Braunfels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in New Braunfels' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for Judson, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Clemens at 7:00 p.m. Clemens presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Judson in Texas (Clemens is ranked 39th, while Judson is ranked 151st).
