Century is 9-1 against the Redskins since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Century Centurions will get right back to it and host the Shawnee Redskins at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Shawnee took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Century, who comes in off a win.
On Monday, Century earned a 54-46 win over the Redbirds. The victory was just what Century needed coming off of a 67-39 defeat in their prior match.
Ashton Dillow continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Karleigh Jones, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Shawnee's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Ballard Memorial 61-17. While losing is never fun, Shawnee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 686th in Illinois, while the Bombers are ranked 152nd in Kentucky).
Despite the defeat, Shawnee saw an underclassman step up: Emma Young scored eight points. That was a full 47.1% of Shawnee's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Century has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Shawnee, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Century against the Redskins in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 58-10 victory. With Century ahead 29-5 at the half, the match was all but over already.
