Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Pawnee Black Bears walked away with it. They blew past Hartshorne 44-24. Pawnee might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Hartshorne's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jackson Moody, who rushed for 82 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 159 yards and a touchdown. Kelby Thomason was in the mix too, providing Hartshorne with two touchdowns.
The win (which was Pawnee's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Oklahoma Union and 2-8 Chelsea (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.5% over those games). As for Hartshorne, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.
Pawnee will take on Central at TBD on Friday. Central is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Hartshorne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
