After two games on the road, Health Sciences is heading back home. They will take on the Mountain Empire Redhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 70-34, which was the final score in Health Sciences' tilt against the Royals on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Mountain Empire had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 54-13 victory over King-Chavez Community at home. With Mountain Empire ahead 34-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Mountain Empire's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Corey Vann, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. Vann has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Sepulveda, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Health Sciences' loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Mountain Empire, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Health Sciences came up short against the Redhawks in their previous meeting back in January, falling 58-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Vann, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Health Sciences knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
