Basketball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Freeport's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Freeport won the last time they faced North Bay Haven Academy, and Dameyan Martin did his part to make sure it happened again. The Freeport Bulldogs walked away with a 71-62 victory over the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers on Thursday thanks in part to Martin, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 17 points per game.

Julius Miles was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The match was his seventh in a row with at least ten points.

Despite the loss, North Bay Haven Academy still got an impressive performance from Josuel Cruz, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Fennell, who posted nine points.

Freeport is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
