Goose Creek found their leader in underclassman Demi Gray, who scored 14 points along with 6 steals. Celeste Griffen was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 steals.
Meanwhile, Ashley Ridge pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Military Magnet Academy 66-61.
Despite their defeat, Ashley Ridge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Briana Davidson, who scored 7 points along with 22 blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Dianna Blake, who scored 18 points.
Goose Creek's win bumped their season record to 3-1 while West Ashley's defeat dropped theirs to 0-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Goose Creek have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.8 rebounds per game.
