The Rockingham County Cougars will face off against the Walkertown Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Rockingham County made easy work of Bartlett Yancey and carried off a 14-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won six in a row.

Chase Holcomb looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
On the hitting side, Nick Rumbley was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Page, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Walkertown got the win against Oak Ridge Military Academy on Monday by a conclusive 16-2.
Caden Joyce made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Cam Smith was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Owen Tidd was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Walkertown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in six consecutive games.
Walkertown's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Rockingham County, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rockingham County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Walkertown struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rockingham County got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Walkertown by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
